mascot battery charger Type 2240
BRDF: it uses 380, 440, 550, 675, 740, 870, 937, 1020 and 1640 nm filters
Ok it is well configured as a BRDF.
"Circle" measure the soil.
If you set the instrument in automatic mode, the instrument will starts with a 3SUN scenario and if the sun is not cloudy then it continues with sky then soil scenarios.
The instrument makes automatic measures from zenith 5.0° to 60° step 5.0°
The Azimuth step is also 5.0° from 0.0° to 355.0° the next circle is made in reverse sens from 360.0 to 5.0°.
The instrument makes a circle into a sens and the next one in reverse mode.
The 1st circle is in trigonometric sens ( reverse watch, clock, sens)

cimel_setup_manual by NASA Aeronet
1. Yes the steps 18 to 23 have to be made.
2. Scenario for BRDF
The chapiter 4.1 describes the filters waves length the BRDF scenarios will be made.
This is the standard use of the instrument.
You can select only some wave length.
This can be set in password PW=15 and the parameter is Gnd/Sea filters.
Normally you have to use all the filters.
This identifies the instrument. At the beginning of the photometers the country was the phone international prefix ( 33 for France 1 for US ) district was a region and number make the zip code. Aeronet change the use of this parameters.
Now is used only the number and is represents the Aeronet instrument number.
So you set to number parameter the value you want to identify the instrument.
Country: Country identification. [0; 255]: 0.
District: District identification. [0; 255]: 0.
Number: Number identification. [0; 9999]: 0.

4. Control unit will take care of saving data and customer to use their PC installed with PhotoGetData V1.02 to download data from the CU.
5. Scientifc software that will reduce data from CE318 to calculate atomospheric parameters or obtainig absolute radiance? Does Aeronet offers software package to reduce raw data obtained from CE318 to these parameters? If you can give us any suggestions where to look for so that valuable data obtained from CE318TUBRDB can be more useful to AIST reseachers.
The BRDF instrument ar e special instruments for satellite calibration. There are only a few such instrument In rance there are CNES from Toulouse who use such instrument till 2000 to a site called La Crau. ESA will install one in Namibia.
Aeronet process only standard wave length filters.
The scientists can contact Brent Holben ( brent.n.holben@nasa.gov ) the manager of Aeronet and talk with him about the data process collaboration.
A group S ( soil) makes 3suns then Almucantars then PPlan then soil circles.
The instrument goes to a zenith angle starting with 5.0 up to 60 deg
At each angle it makes soil measures for all the filters configured in PW=15 BRDF Sea filters
Before to increase the zenith angle it runs a 3suns to check if the sun is still without clouds.
All this ca take up to 2 hours.
To make Langley the best solution is to change the type of instrument from BRDF to NE.
This will avoid all the soil measurement ( scenarios circle)
As NE the instrument will start at air mass 7.0 and it will make 3 sun and sky measurements.
You can activate the Turbo mode in Settings menu and set the turbo period = 3 minutes.
Is standard mode the instrument makes groups of scenarios at different air mass and after 9.0h every 15 minutes.
The turbo mode increase the number of Groups A (3sun scenarios).
Note :each time you change the type of instrument (from BRDF to NE and then from NE to BRDF) all the data is erase.
You have to download data before to change the type.
